God Gathers Us
palm sunday Call to Worship - John 12:12-15
To be read aloud by someone in your home:
12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
“Hosanna!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Blessed is the king of Israel!”
14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:
15 “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion;
see, your king is coming,
seated on a donkey’s colt.”
Opening Prayer
Today is Palm Sunday, and the start of Holy Week, and our call to worship this morning reminds us of the events of that day, when Jesus entered Jerusalem and was welcomed as a Hero King, come to save the people.
They were, of course, right about this - Jesus is such a King. But they were also wrong - for the way he would come (riding on a donkey not a war horse), would be to save by dying, rather than by wielding the sword. This week, we remember these strange and surprising and wonderful events, and as a church family worship the King who came to save us by dying for us.
Today, at the start of this week, take some time to quiet your heart and to pray that the Holy Spirit would give you a fresh experience of the good news of Jesus as you worship; pray with us that our church family as a whole would be encouraged and renewed during our worship this week; and pray for our witness, that any who may join us who don’t know the love of Christ may come to know and trust Him.

We encourage you to sing - make a joyful noise! If you play an instrument, play! If you have some favorite hymns or choruses, pick one or two and sing! Or make use of other technology to play some music, and listen and sing along.
Below are some hymns you can make use of if these would be a help to you.
