God Gathers Us

Call to Worship - Psalm 2:1-6

To be read aloud by someone in your home:

Why do the nations conspire
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth rise up
    and the rulers band together
against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
“Let us break their chains
    and throw off their shackles.”

The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
    the Lord scoffs at them.
He rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
“I have installed my king
    on Zion, my holy mountain.”

Opening Prayer

  • What great forces are there in the world right now that bother you the most? That keep you awake at night? Do you see how this Psalm speaks to our worries about the powers of destruction and rebellion against God that are at work in our world? How does God see these rebellious powers? And how does this Psalm point to Jesus?

  • Take some time to pray, giving thanks to God for His power and authority, and for Jesus, our King who reigns in power and in love.

Congregational Singing

  • We encourage you to sing - make a joyful noise! If you play an instrument, play! If you have some favorite hymns or choruses, pick one or two and sing! Or make use of other technology to play some music, and listen and sing along.

  • Below are some hymns you can make use of if these would be a help to you.

Offering & Offertory

During this time when we can't gather on Sundays, we can still receive your offerings a couple of ways:

  • You can drop your offering in the locked mailbox outside the church office entrance

  • Or, you can mail them to the church at 393 Water Street, Augusta ME 04330.

Thank you for your continued support of Penney and its ministries!
