God Gathers Us
Call to Worship - Psalm 2:1-6
To be read aloud by someone in your home:
Why do the nations conspire
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth rise up
and the rulers band together
against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
“Let us break their chains
and throw off their shackles.”
The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.
He rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
“I have installed my king
on Zion, my holy mountain.”
Opening Prayer
What great forces are there in the world right now that bother you the most? That keep you awake at night? Do you see how this Psalm speaks to our worries about the powers of destruction and rebellion against God that are at work in our world? How does God see these rebellious powers? And how does this Psalm point to Jesus?
Take some time to pray, giving thanks to God for His power and authority, and for Jesus, our King who reigns in power and in love.
