God Gathers Us

Call to Worship - Psalm 24

To be read aloud by someone in your home:

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
    the world, and all who live in it;
for he founded it on the seas
    and established it on the waters.

Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
    Who may stand in his holy place?
The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
    who does not trust in an idol
    or swear by a false god.

They will receive blessing from the Lord
    and vindication from God their Savior.
Such is the generation of those who seek him,
    who seek your face, God of Jacob.

Lift up your heads, you gates;
    be lifted up, you ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord strong and mighty,
    the Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, you gates;
    lift them up, you ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
Who is he, this King of glory?
    The Lord Almighty—
    he is the King of glory.

Opening Prayer

  • This is one of the Psalms you read recently if you are reading through the bible in a year with us. For several weeks we’ve been taking one of those Psalms and reading it again as we begin worship.

  • This Psalm sets our eyes fully on God in all His glory, from the very first verse. Read through it again, taking note of what it says about God that makes Him so worthy of praise.

  • Then go to God in prayer, asking Him by the power of the Holy Spirit to show you (and show us at Penney!) more of His glory and power this weekend during our times of worship, that we might fear Him and trust in Him alone.

Congregational Singing

  • We encourage you to sing - make a joyful noise! If you play an instrument, play! If you have some favorite hymns or choruses, pick one or two and sing! Or make use of other technology to play some music, and listen and sing along.

  • Below are some hymns you can make use of if these would be a help to you.

Offering

During this time when we can't gather on Sundays, we can still receive your offerings a couple of ways:

  • You can drop your offering in the locked mailbox outside the church office entrance

  • Or, you can mail them to the church at 393 Water Street, Augusta ME 04330.

Thank you for your continued support of Penney and its ministries!
